Kouk

Raised in Leith, Edinburgh Kouk is a Scottish rapper with a twist. Kouk’s style is synonymous with incredibly smooth vocal delivery, bouncy unorthodox flows and interesting concepts. Kouk first release music in 2019. In his own words “When we started, we didn’t have much, we just tried anything to make it work. However, since then we have learned so much that in 2022 we feel that the music is going to make a massive impact due to all the crazy new techniques we have accidentally stumbled across whilst making mental music.”

Kouk has recently stepped back onto the scene with new singles Story and Famous. Kouk dropped “Famous”; alongside some of Scotland’s premier rap talent AJForty7, Andra Black and Lynx. Andra Black created a moody but energetic new age melodic drill beat. This summer Kouk is getting ready to play a whole host of shows across the UK. He will also be preparing for sets alongside, his colleagues at Tinderbox orchestra and Culture Clan for events that will take place during the world-famous Edinburgh fringe festival.

Dubh

Dubh delivers impeccable melodic bars with a distinct sound, taking inspiration from genre defying artists such as; Future, Nafe Smallz, Sleepy Hallow & D- Block Europe. This track combines staples from various genres; trap, R&D, trapwave, uk rap and melodic drill. Several years ago, Dubh met JID & Earthgang after a gig - and had the opportunity to perform a verse for them. They gave him some inspiring feedback and told him to start recording - this is what kick-started Dubh’s journey into music. He had only recently started making beats and writing bars, but this influenced his creativity massively, and ignited the spark for music that he maintains to this day. Dubh has performed at various shows across Scotland including the Edinburgh Fringe and several other iconic Scottish venues. He has worked with artists such as AJ Forty7, Yah IsReal, A420, Kouk and Nova to name a few. As an engineer he has worked freelance for the BBC, and is a sound production tutor at The Academy of Music & Sound.

“Risk It’ is the second release in a new run of singles that follows on from Dubh’s previous project, in collaboration with Kouk: ‘ScAutoTune’. His most recent release ‘Poppin Up To Me’, was featured on BBC Introducing’s Pop Out Playlist, and has over 8,000 streams on Spotify alone. Arusa Qureshi on Dubh’s newest single - “Risk It” “Favourite element is that repetitive hook and how easily it gets stuck in your mind, after hearing this once it echoed in my brain for quite a while. The beat stutters in an interesting pattern, which makes the instrumentation really stand out; I see a lot of potential for Dubh”
