ABOUT PIANODROME

Pianodrome Community Interest Company is dedicated to upcycling otherwise disused pianos to create unique interactive artworks, activating our spaces for creative community and restoring discarded pianos which can still be played then returning them to use.

As part of a large network of makers, artists, performers and volunteers we design, build and install, then utilise the created spaces to programme inspiring festivals, one-off events and educational experiences. We aim to demonstrate what can be achieved by re-thinking our attitude to materials and waste.

Volunteering has always been a key part of Pianodrome’s success. We aim to improve our offering and provide more opportunities to contribute to our project, learn new skills and make friends.

ROLE PURPOSE

Pianodrome has seen a growing interest in volunteering from people of all backgrounds. However, with limited staff capacity and infrastructure, we are not currently able to support this demand effectively. We often miss opportunities to engage people who could benefit most—especially those from harder-to-reach or marginalised groups. The Volunteer co-ordinator role will enable us to recruit a wider and more diverse volunteer base and put in place systems to support and retain them, improve communication, offer personalised induction and support, and help volunteers find roles that are meaningful and rewarding to them. This will also allow us to match staff and volunteers more effectively, ensuring collaborative, well-supported working relationships.
