Cyrille Lerouge and Marco Van Baaren

Cyrille is a French Counter tenor. He started singing at age 7 in a Boys Choir based in his hometown, in Nogent-sur-Marne (near Paris). He has stayed in this choir until he was 18, which made him sing more than 50 concerts every year, as a solo and ensemble singer, in prestigious places in Paris (Notre-Dame de Paris, Saint-Eustache, Saint-Louis en L’Île etc.) and abroad during the international summer tours (Spain, Switzerland, U.S.A., Japan…). In 2011, he began his proper singing studies in the « Département Supérieur pour Jeunes Chanteurs », linked to the prestigious Conservatoire National Régional de Paris. In 2015, he received his « Diplôme d’Etudes Musicales ». Then, he studied in the « Département de Musique Ancienne » (specialized in the ancient music répertoire, from middle-ages to late baroque ») in the same Conservatoire, with Isabelle Poulenard as his main teacher. There, he performed the roles of Telemaco in Monteverdi’s « The Return of Ulysses », L’Homme Affligé in Psyché, by Lully and Appolo in Luigi Rossi’s Orfeo.

He performed the role of Tullio in Haendel’s Arminio, with young French ensemble Vox 21 during the Festival de Bourbon Lancy. In sacred music he sang, among other things, the alto solo part in Bach Cantata 144 with Antoine Torunczyk conducting, Bach Christmas Oratorio in various places in Burgundy and in le Collège des Bernardins à Paris, with La Fenice conducted by Jean Tubery, Zelenka’s Lamentation of Jeremiah per Alto Solo with ensemble Musica Vera conducted by Jean-Baptiste Nicolas… He also regularly performs as an a cappella ensemble singer to perform Renaissance music, most notably with Ensemble Cosmos and Les Voix Animées, conducted by Luc Coadou. He has been Ruggiero in Haendel’s Alcina with Marouan Mankar conducted, in the « Musée d’Art et d’Histoire » in Saint-Denis. He keeps working on his voice with Lea Sarfati and Robert Expert.

Marco Van Baaren started learning the piano at a very young age and then playing guitar in his native Ardèche. He went to the high school Philippe Lamour in Nîmes to benefit from the music option. Then he started a Bachelor of musicology in Montpellier. At the faculty, he discovers a vocation for lyric singing. In September 2014, he joined the Département Supérieur Pour Jeunes Chanteurs, at the Regional Conservatorium in Paris. In September 2017, he joined the baroque opera class of the conservatorium of Paris under the direction of Stéphane Fuget. He studied lyrical singing with Jean François Lombard, Florence Guignolet and Jean Pierre Furlant. He studied lieder and French melody with Philippe Biros. In 2015 he formed a vocal quartet with friends from his school called Quatuor Bonelli. With this band he performed throughout France and recorded an album called "Envol" released in July 2018.In 2019 he participated in a training course on medieval music at Royaumont and Marc Mauillon abbey. He joined the band Voix Animées in 2019.
