Thanks to all of those who made it along. Nineteen people turned up from all over the city – we had promoters, musicians, makers, ecologists, teachers, students and theatre people all thinking and talking through ideas of what the Pianodrome might look, sound and feel like when we install it at the Royal Botanical Gardens next year.
Here's a computer-generated vision of the future!
The support and enthusiasm was quite overwhelming and very encouraging – it's really exciting opening the project up to a wider group. We had several brainstorming sessions and wrote our ideas on piano keys...
Some stand-out ideas so far:
Opening as a free rehearsal space for bands during Botanics opening hours
Incorporating a 'Piano bar' for botanical cocktails during events
Running music lessons at the Pianodrome with local schools and music teachers
Running 'Piano Picnics'
The Pianodrome Community Choir
...The opportunities this space will create are apparently endless..!
